Michael D. Davis
Michael D. Davis Biography
Michael D. Davis was born and raised in Southern Oregon, where he attended school and developed his interest in the craft and art of still photography. He joined the United States Army after High School and graduated with honors from the combined Army/Air Force photography school near Denver, Colorado.
Assigned to an overseas posting, Michael practiced his craft and discovered that the camera is the perfect tool for creating images whose strength lay in becoming catalysts for our memories. After his military service, Michael returned to the Rogue Valley, opening a full-service photography studio specializing in portraiture and event photography there in 1992.
Michael has photographed events professionally throughout the United States, eventually becoming a mentor and teacher to many other photographers locally and around the country. Although most of his business career has centered on photographing people and the significant events in their lives, Michael has never abandoned his interest in the art and craft of photographing the world around him.
Michael shares this:"For me the mystery hidden in the petals of a flower or the expanse of a landscape is no less enticing than looking deeply into the eyes of a fellow human being and discovering the soul within. To create something new, or to share what we discover on our life journey, is the ultimate communication of a gift of loving and caring creation."
Michael maintains a working studio in Medford, Oregon, where he practices and teaches the craft of photography to others. Recently he has begun teaching a thirteen-week course titled: The Every Day Artist. Michael is delighted to share the journey that embodies the spirit of S.O. Rogue Eduventures with those who long for more than the average opportunity to learn and grow creatively.
